VIRTUAL Worship at St Mark's

Programs for Children & Youth

Sunday, November 15th
Casserole Drive with Youth Service

Youth Service - The Youth at St. Marks will help lead the services.    We are also asking kids to bring casseroles made with their families, along with other parishioners for the local Shelter.   Recipe suggestions we will be provided in the bulletin.
During Sunday service, the children are gathered for a special sermon from the presider. Then they are taken to either Children’s Chapel or Sunday school where creativity and wonder are encouraged!  Children are escorted back into the main worship service in time for Communion.
Sunday School:

  • Sunday school  is usually held during the 10:30 a.m. service.
  • Godly Play: Preschool and Kindergarten. We use “Young Children at Worship” for our Godly Play curriculum. The children are taught to use faith language—parables, sacred stories, liturgical action and crafts to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives.
  • Living the Good News: 1st-3rd graders.  This age group is taught with, “Living the Good News”. This grade uses the primary level with crafts, stories, and song.
  • Kids for Christ (KFC): 4th-6th graders. This age group is also taught with, “Living the Good News”. This grade uses the intermediate level with crafts, stories, and song.
  • Episcopal Youth Community (EYC): 7th-12 graders. This age group is also taught with, “Living the Good News”. This grade uses the young teen level.
Nursery:
Children from 0-3 years of age are in the hands of our wonderful, competent, screened and trained staff. Read more here.
Children's Chapel
June, July and August, Children's Chapel is held during the 9:00AM service to teach the Gospel through stories and crafts. The curriculum used is “Living the Good News” which is an online lectionary-based Christian education curriculum.
Acolytes:  Acolytes are trained to serve at the altar during worship. They generally act as the priest's assistant, as well as light the candles, walk in the procession, and help with offerings and sacraments.  Anyone in 3rd grade or higher is eligible to serve as an acolyte.
Vacation Bible School (VBS): 4 year olds-4th grade. We hold a three-day program in July which consists of bible stories, crafts, songs, games and a play or concert that the children practice throughout the three days then perform for parents and family on the last day.

Mission:  To build a loving fellowship of Disciples of Christ through service, education and recreation.
