Bring Mugs to Church

3/30/2015

St. Mark's is a strong supporter of Manna Soup Kitchen, as most of you know. The organization has let us know they are running out of coffee mugs. So go through your cabinets and collect up your extra mugs!  A donation box will be placed near the Parish Office door to collect coffee mugs for Manna representatives to pick up.

Temporary Housing for Parishioner's Family

3/3/2015

The Boyers’ son, Dan Keen, and family lost their Bayfield home in December. Since then, they have been living in a hotel with their baby and 2 elementary-age girls on the weekends. They are looking for a temporary home for the next 3-4 months while their home is rebuilt. The insurance company will pay rent for them. Should anyone know of or have an apartment or house available, please contact Joyce Boyer at 970-946-3779 or boyertalkin@gmail.com.

Keeping Church Safe

3/1/2015

St. Mark's offers childcare in our nursery for children under the age of 4 during both our 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. Sunday worship services. We also arrange childcare when we have adult Christian formation classes.  Our nursery staff is trained to treat children with love, respect, kindness.

At St. Mark's we believe Jesus Christ calls us to loving relationships that are healthy and helpful to each other. Relationships should not involve taking advantage of those who are weaker nor putting people in situations that are inappropriate for their age or maturity.

That's why, in accordance with the policies of the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado, we participate in the Our Safe Church program, with Safeguarding God's Children trainings and certifications. Safeguarding God’s Children is a training resource for those who minister to, for, and with children and youth, in recognizing and responding to child sexual abuse, and in creating safe space in the prevention of child sexual abuse.  Certification in this training is required every four years for all clergy, paid staff, and regular church workers (those who work with children and/or youth five or more times per year).

All participants in ministry (all men and women, children, youth, adults, helpers, Sunday School teachers, nursery workers, adult supervisors, the poor, those of diverse cultural backgrounds, etc.) deserve to be in a safe environment, free from harassment, abuse, and misconduct.
