St. Mark's Church is a dynamic community of Christians formed as the Body of Christ by God's grace to carry God's love and ministry into the world and to encounter the risen Lord in our life together. We trace our local roots to an Episcopal worship service held on December 26, 1880 – the first Christian worship in Durango – and so we celebrate more than 130 years of witness and ministry. We are blessed with a rich history and many resources, but our most prized treasure is our people.
Our life is centered in our worship, offering up our lives and the needs of the world, guided by the rich tradition of the Episcopal Church. We are a church of Word and Sacrament, seeking nourishment from – and being formed by – the Bible and the historic sacraments, especially Baptism and Eucharist. Through them we believe that we are touched and transformed by the redemptive power of Christ. Each Sunday, we offer both traditional (8:00 a.m.) and more contemporary worship (10:30) drawing on a wide variety of music, language and liturgical resources.
We are a congregation of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Colorado, under the oversight of Bishop Rob O'Neill. We try to extend the welcome and love of God to all who enter our doors, and our communion is "open" to every seeker of Christ. We offer a wide variety
of opportunities for people to be engaged in ministries of outreach and service, formation and fellowship, serving our children, and in worship. We're grateful you have shown interest in St. Mark's, and we look forward to visiting more with you personally. If you would like to know more about us, give us a call.
