We, the congregation of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, are in the process of calling a new rector. We have availed ourselves of a church-wide process of reflection and discussion, to discover who we are and how well we are fulfilling our Mission Statement:

Through God's grace, We are called to be One,
          Loving, Serving, Reconciling Community,
          Bearing witness to Christ's resurrection.

St. Mark's is liturgically progressive through the use of Enriching Our Worship, approved by Bishop Rob O'Neill. We embrace all; incorporating newcomers into an inclusive belief system by being open-minded, welcoming and non-judgmental. The average Sunday attendance is approximately 140. The native stone church is located three blocks from the center of the city of Durango, which has a population of a little over 16,000 citizens. The church became a parish in 1883.

The nine-member Search Committee was appointed in April of 2011 and has followed these recommended steps:

  • Prepared historical highlights of the past 128 years
  • Conducted parishioner cottage meetings
  • Led affinity group discussions
  • Compiled a parish survey
  • Written a Parish Profile

The Profile and Call have been completed, and can be downloaded using the link below. Applications may be sent to The Rev. Canon Lou Blanchard, Congregational Deployment, lblanchard@coloradodiocese.org, or mailed to 1300 Washington St. Denver, CO 80203. Applications will close November 1, 2011.

To apply, candidates need to send their OTM (Office of Transition Ministries) portfolio, a current resume and a cover letter. For more information contact Canon Blanchard or Seach Committee chairperson Sam Burns.
